PocketMonkey Thin Wallet Multi Tool

Ever since I stumbled upon the PocketMonkey Thin Wallet Multi Tool, my outdoor escapades have taken a whimsical turn. The quirky design of the PocketMonkey, adorned with a monkey head and rounded edges, instantly caught my fancy. Unlike other credit card tools that conform to a standard look, this one flaunts its eccentricity with pride.

Now, I’m a sucker for multi-functional gadgets, especially when they come in handy amidst the wilderness or during my RVing adventures. With 12 different functions, from a bottle opener to a ruler, this tool promised a blend of utility and novelty. However, it was the unusual additions like the orange peeler and door latch slip that tickled my curiosity.

Taking it along on a hiking trail, I discovered the delight of having a tool that doesn’t just blend into the oblivion of my wallet but stands out with its peculiar silhouette. The bottle opener was a champ when a chilled beer beckoned post a vigorous hike. The flathead and Phillips screwdrivers were my comrades in minor repairs, albeit a tad flimsy when brute force beckoned. I chuckled at the irony when the micro screwdriver found its match in a stubborn eyeglass screw.

Now, the orange peeler, though offbeat, was a joy amidst the citrusy mornings in the woods. The phone kickstand, albeit needing a companion card, held its ground while I reveled in the serenity, with my favorite tunes playing. However, the letter opener had me resort to a more rustic, sawing motion to get through the paper barrier. It’s a good thing my patience is as abundant as the trees around.

The PocketMonkey was not just a tool, but a conversation starter among fellow campers. Its slim profile made it a breeze to carry around without feeling burdened, unlike my hefty Leatherman that now awaits its turn at home. The round edges were gentle on my wallet, and the ease of access was unmatched, especially when a loose screw on my RV’s door handle called for immediate attention.

On one of my weekend jaunts into the woods, the PocketMonkey had its moment of glory. As someone who revels in the rhythm of nature, I often find myself humming along with the whispers of the trees. On this particular day, I decided to set up a makeshift campsite to enjoy the night under the stars. As dusk cast long shadows, I realized I had forgotten my trusty can opener back at home. The wilderness echoed with my groan, but then, the PocketMonkey chimed in with its quirky grin.

With a little maneuvering, the flathead screwdriver came to the rescue, prying open the can of beans that was to be my humble dinner. As I sat by the fire, the stars twinkling in approval overhead, I couldn’t help but chuckle at the irony. Here I was, miles away from civilization, with a monkey-faced tool saving my day. The PocketMonkey didn’t just open a can; it opened a realm of playful possibilities even in the face of forgotten conveniences. Each time I slide it out of my wallet, I’m reminded of that serene night, the warm fire, and the whimsical way this little gadget blends utility with a dash of humor in the great outdoors.

Despite its few shortcomings, the mere convenience and quirkiness of the PocketMonkey make it a cherished addition to my outdoor gear. It’s a playful companion that often reminds me, amidst the wild, of the ingenious blend of utility and humor. The PocketMonkey doesn’t just reside in my wallet; it’s found a snug place in my roster of quirky yet handy outdoor companions. For its price, the plethora of functions (even the whimsical ones) offers a value that resonates well with my adventurous spirit. And oh, the countless chuckles and conversations it spurred, made the outdoors feel a bit more like home.

Tools Include:

  • Bottle Opener
  • Flathead Screwdriver
  • Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • Micro Screwdriver
  • Phone Kickstand
  • Six Hex Wrenches
  • Orange Peeler
  • Door Latch Slip
  • Earbud Wrap
  • Letter Opener
  • Ruler
  • Straight Edge

Pros:

  • Quirky Design: The unusual and playful design makes it a conversation starter.
  • Compact and Portable: Slim profile fits easily in a wallet, ideal for on-the-go situations.
  • Multi-Functional: Offers 12 different functions, catering to a variety of everyday needs.
  • TSA-Approved: Its travel-friendly nature makes it a great companion for globetrotters.
  • Sturdy Construction: Despite its thin profile, it’s built to endure daily wear and tear.
  • Easy Accessibility: Quick to deploy when minor inconveniences strike, saving time and hassle.

Cons:

  • Some Flimsy Tools: Certain tools like the screwdrivers may lack the strength for more robust tasks.
  • Unconventional Letter Opener: Requires a sawing motion, and may not perform smoothly.
  • Gimmicky Features: Some functionalities like the phone stand and earbud wrap may not meet practical expectations.
  • Micro Screwdriver Limitation: May not fit smaller screws such as eyeglasses screws.
  • Learning Curve: Some tools may require a knack to use effectively, like the trick to using the letter opener.

Zootility Headgehog Wallet Comb

Buy from Amazon

The Headgehog Wallet Comb is another product from Zootility built for wallet carry. It’s designed in the shape of an adorable hedgehog and has a pretty nice metal comb as its central tool. Overall it comes with seven different functions, including:

  • Metal Comb
  • Four Hex Wrenches
  • Phone Stand
  • Chip Clip
  • Screwdriver
  • Bottle Opener
  • Money Clip

The Headgehog doesn’t have as many tools as many other multi tool credit cards but the ones it does have work very well. The hex wrenches are slightly larger than on other tools and the single screwdriver does a reasonable job in both phillips and flathead screws. We really liked the method used for its phone stand. Most card tools require another card to hold your phone. The Headgehog uses the hex wrench areas to give you two angles to set your phone at.

The comb itself is honestly one of the best tools we’ve seen on any credit card tool. It’s a really simple innovation, but few other manufacturers thought about it. We applaud Zootility for making a good quality credit card tool that provides a fairly unique benefit.

Wallet Ninja 2.0 Credit Card Sized Multi Tool

Buy from Amazon

The Wallet Ninja 2.0 is an updated version of the first multi tool credit card ever made. It’s made from heat treated steel and weighs almost a full ounce. This is a good bit heavier than many other tools on this list but the overall quality was also higher. It gives you 20 different tools including a variety of wrenches and screwdrivers. These tools include:

  • Six Hex Wrenches
  • Two Phillips Head Screwdrivers
  • Flathead Screwdriver
  • Eyeglasses Screwdriver
  • Letter Opener
  • Nail Puller
  • Inches Ruler
  • CM Ruler
  • Bottle Opener
  • Can Opener
  • Fruit Peeler
  • Cell Phone Stand
  • Mirror
  • Nail File

It includes all the tools of the highly rated original Wallet Ninja with the addition of a mirror and nail file. One thing we noticed right off the bat is that this multi tool credit card felt sturdier than most of the others. We’d come to expect credit card tools to feel very flimsy and this one really impressed us. All of the tools work very well for what they are. The mirror had a tendency to get dirty in a pocket or wallet but was easy to clean off. The screwdrivers in particular were actually strong enough to turn screws efficiently.

The can/bottle opener definitely works better on bottles. It was a bit of a struggle getting the right angle to open a can. I would recommend carrying something else for your campfire chili. The nail puller was another pleasant surprise. Going in we expected it to be a space filler more than anything else but you can actually pull small nails with the Wallet Ninja 2.0. We highly recommend the Wallet Ninja 2.0 for it’s well made tools and overall strength.

Victorinox Swisscard Lite

Victorinox Swisscard Lite

Buy from Amazon

Victorinox is well known for their massive line of swiss army knives and other pocket tools. The Swisscard Lite is one of their most interesting products from a design standpoint alone. Basically a disassembled swiss army knife, it gives you 13 useful tools in a credit card sized flat pack easy to slip into your wallet. It includes tools like:

  • Letter Opener/Small Straight Blade
  • Magnifying Glass
  • Scissors
  • Phillips Head Size Âœ
  • Phillips Head Size 00/0
  • 5mm Flathead
  • 3mm Flathead
  • Tweezers
  • Ballpoint Pen
  • LED Light
  • Small Steel Pin
  • CM Ruler
  • Inches Ruler

Right off the bat you’ll notice that the Swisscard has a different tool loadout to most other credit card multi tools. Instead of the standard bottle opener and hex wrenches it gives you things like a removable knife blade, scissors and an LED light. All of the tools are made to Victorinox’s high standards and provide a lot of value, especially for their size.

We really like the screwdriver tool. It resembles a spark plug spacer tool and its quality is far higher than what you find on many other tools. The LED light is great for finding a keyhole and the ballpoint pen writes smoothly (If a pen is important to you resd our best multi tools with pen review). It’s a bit thicker than most of the other tools on this list but you’ll probably end up using it a lot more often. All in all this is a really nice tool that gives you far more value than most other multi tool credit cards.

Boker Plus Credit Card Knife

Boker Plus Credit Card Knife

Buy from Amazon

The Boker Plus is one of the most straightforward credit card tools we’ve yet reviewed. It provides exactly one tool, a folding knife blade. The blade flips out instead of swiveling and is 2 and ÂŒ inches long. That’s a pretty good working length, especially for a folding knife that fits into your wallet.

Boker is known for making quality tools and the Boker Plus is no exception. It’s made from 440HC stainless steel and holds a decent edge. You can also carry the Plus as a neck knife if you’re so inclined. Bottom line, the Boker Plus gives you an acceptable knife blade in a small package. The ability to carry it hidden in your wallet or easily accessible on your neck also gives you a lot of flexibility.

Zootility WildCard Folding Credit Card Multi Tool Knife

Buy from Amazon

The Zootility WildCard combines several useful tools with a razor sharp folding knife all in a credit card shape. It has a lockable blade that folds out like a traditional folding knife. It provides you with a total of five tools, including:

  • Removable Folding Knife
  • Two Screwdrivers
  • Pry Bar
  • Bottle Opener

The WildCard sacrifices tool count to include a reasonably good folding blade. When you aren’t using it the blade closes into a set of metal sheath points that help protect your wallet and fingers. The blade is designed to pop off when you rotate it to the correct point on the lock system. This allows you to quickly replace it if damaged or remove it for air travel.

The WildCard is an interesting design but we do wonder who Zootility intended it for. The knife is an awkward size and honestly, anyone thinking about carrying a credit card multi tool will probably already have a folding knife in their pocket. That leaves you with a bottle opener, pry bar, and two screwdrivers. If you’ve been looking to shake up your EDC the WildCard is worth a look.

Tuls Roul Titanium

Tuls Roul Titanium

Buy from Amazon

The Roul Titanium from Tuls is a credit card tool built for the carpenter in all of us. It’s made from light and durable titanium and includes a variety of measurement tools to help you carry out measure twice, cut once no matter where you are. It’s 3.2 in long and 2.1 in wide and weighs just .32 oz, making it easy to keep in your wallet or builders folio. There are 10 functions built into the Roul, including:

  • Standard Ruler
  • Metric Ruler
  • 11/16” – œ” Screw, Dowel, Bit Measuring Guide
  • 2mm – 11mm Screw, Dowel, Bit Measuring Guide
  • Plum Bob
  • Protractor
  • Standard Square
  • Metric Square
  • Pry Bar
  • Lanyard Hole/Keyring

Unlike many of the other credit card multi tools on this list the Roul doesn’t offer physical tools. Other than its secondary use as a pry bar every included function on the Roul is related to measurement. It won’t pop a bottle open or turn a bolt but overall we think this is one of the most practical multi tool cards we’ve seen. Being able to precisely measure screws, bolts, and other building tools on the go is downright useful.

Its titanium construction makes it durable and it’s honestly the perfect size for measuring and marking small projects. Its lack of any sharpened surface also makes it TSA friendly for those of us who travel frequently. The Tuls Roul Titanium is definitely a niche tool, but for that niche it’s extremely useful and well made.

Readyman Wilderness Survival Card

Buy from Amazon

The Readyman Wilderness Survival Card is one of the most unique credit card tools on this list. Instead of small tools built into a credit card shape it provides removable emergency gear useful in a survival situation. It’s 3.5 in long and 2 in wide, perfectly sized to fit in a wallet or Altoids tin emergency kit. It gives you seven different tools in several different versions. These include:

  • Nine Fish Hooks
  • Five Arrow Heads
  • Four Snare Locks
  • Awl
  • Two Sewing Needles
  • Three Saw Blades
  • Emergency Tweezers

To be sure, this isn’t a tool you’ll get everyday use from. It’s a tiny set of emergency gear that might help you survive in a wilderness survival situation. The fish hooks come in a combination of single and double sided versions and are just the right size for medium to large bream or catfish (see our fishing multi tool guide if you enjoy fishing). We were really surprised by how good the saw was for its size. You won’t be cutting any trees down but it does a great job separating branches up to about Ÿ of an inch in diameter.

All of the pieces are easy to remove yet sturdy enough not to be damaged sitting in a wallet for months at a time. None of the tools are as good as purpose built versions but they don’t have to be. They’re an emergency solution to keep you warm and fed in a dangerous situation. Bottom line, the Wilderness Survival Card is a great EDC piece for those of us who live by ‘just in case’.

Lever Gear Toolcard Pro Credit Card Multitool

Buy from Amazon

Lever Gear really swung for the fences with the Toolcard Pro. It’s the same size as most of the other tools on our list but comes with 40, you read that right, 40 different tools. Most of these are wrenches but that still blows its closest competitors out of the water. The tools on the Toolcard Pro include:

  • Seven Closed Inch Hex Wrenches
  • Eight Open Ended Inch/Metric Wrenches
  • Eight Closed Metric Wrenches
  • ÂŒ Inch Hex Bit Holder
  • Can Opener
  • Cord Cutter
  • Box Cutter
  • Large Flathead Screwdriver
  • Small Flathead Screwdriver
  • Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • Bottle Opener
  • Protractor
  • Straight Edge
  • Metric Ruler
  • Inches Ruler
  • CM Circle Templates
  • Money Clip
  • Pry Bar
  • Nail Puller
  • Speed Square

That’s a long list and believe it or not the Toolcard Pro actually can do all those things. It’s made from heat treated stainless steel and laser etched with tool indicators. The wrenches are positioned throughout the body to make it easy to apply sufficient torque. We really liked the included money clip. It doubles as a removable pocket clip you can use to attach the Toolcard to your shirt pocket, pants pocket, or inside folder. It was more than adequate to hold several cards and cash while still being able to pop a top in the bottle opener.

Not only does the Toolcard Pro give you seriously outsized value, it’s also fully TSA compliant. You can bring this with you wherever you go in the world without any fear of it being confiscated. We really liked the Toolcard Pro, it uses quality materials, is precision machined, and includes a lot of really useful tools.

Survco Survival Credit Card

Survco Survival Credit Card
The Survco wallet multi tool product picture

Buy from Amazon

The Survival Credit Card from Survco is built to be the ultimate wilderness survival credit card tool. It’s made from 12 gauge stainless steel and feels much more robust than other credit card multi tools. The main body of the tool is actually an emergency axe head built to be attached to a wooden handle. It offers more than 20 different functions, including:

  • Tomahawk
  • Axe
  • Skinner
  • Scraper
  • Shovel
  • Seatbelt Cutter
  • Bottle Opener
  • Water Valve Wrench
  • Gas Valve Wrench
  • Three Hex Wrenches
  • ÂŒ Inch Bit Driver
  • Flat Head Screwdriver
  • Nail Puller
  • Saw
  • Arrow Head
  • Spear Point
  • Atlatl

Given the survival focus of this tool it’s unlikely you’ll get much everyday use out of it. That being said, the emergency tools it includes are actually well made for something the size of a credit card. Once you remove the arrow head you can attach the axe head to a sturdy stick with cordage or zip ties. You won’t be splitting logs with it but it’s good enough to separate smaller branches.

The axe head itself isn’t super sharp so you don’t need to worry about cutting through your wallet. The other tools on the Survival Credit Card fulfill their functions well and feel more substantial than those on lighter tools. If you have a survival mindset we recommend you check out this neat little tool. It’s not the only thing you’ll need to survive but it’s definitely nice to have.
